THE BASICS
MatthewDallman.com, online since April 2003, is a multidisciplinary cyber-artwork created by Matthew Dallman. The website is hand-coded in raw HTML by Matthew, and is an ongoing experiment in fullness, via typography, music, and images both still and in motion. The site showcases music, poetry, works of art philosophy, film, animated flash, and photography, all created by Matthew. The site is intended as "integral polysemy", or inclusive many-meaning piece of organic artwork anchored to the spectrum of human perception. The website is hosted by TCBands.com, a company owned by Andrew Carlson. The Daily Goose, the site's blog, is published through www.blogger.com. Matthew can be contact via email: md at matthewdallman dot com

MUSIC
Matthew's basic philosophy for music is 'one voice, many tones'. He showcases his compositions and improvisations on this site. His discography of full-length album releases is previewed here as "flash albums" and external distribution websites are linked to. Matthew is a composer of diverse training who creates music that weaves a coherent thread through his many influences, from the American tradition as well as others from around the planet. He composes for solo instruments (piano, marimba, guitar, saxophone, and more) as well as chamber ensembles (vocal choir, jazz combo, saxphone/violin duo, and more). His most recent album is called I Am Sound, and it showcases work both experimental and traditional in an overall approach that Matthew calls "American Contemplative".

ART/AESTHETICS WRITING
Matthew Dallman is a unique art and aesthetics scholar. His aesthetics are rooted in the North American philosophical tradition. Since its public debut in 2003, his work has furthered the exploration of "the archetype of integral" and the nature of "transdisciplinary" in art more than any other thinker or writer on art. His work is influenced by his experience as a multidisciplinary artist, as well as the likes of Camille Paglia, Marshall McLuhan, John Dewey, Norman O Brown, W.A. Mathieu, Hazrat Inayat Khan, Ananda Coomaraswamy, as well as his troubled relationship with Ken Wilber, whose work Matthew closely studied for a time but increasingly rejects as irrelevant to the humanities. His work is aimed for art lovers, scholars, curators, and teachers. Yet most of all, Matthew writes for working artists, whom he hopes his work inspires to new depths of palpable, ineffable fullness in their creations. In line with his aesthetics, Matthew also writes poetry.

CELLPH SHOTS
Matthew coined the term 'cellph shots' as the title for his cellphone-generated visual artwork. Matthew has been producing Cellph Shots prolifically for over 18 months. It started as a simple hobby in order to release creative energy and tension; Matthew has never claimed to be anything but a photographic amateur, in the true sense of the term—"for the love". While he maintains that attitude to this day, Matthew has nonetheless started to develop something of a photographic voice that is recognizable and unique to him. His Cellph Shots aim to add visual flair and emphasis to his blog. He manipulates the images only slightly; most manipulation happens in his cameras before he takes his pictures. Some images are crafted, along with certain of Matthew's compositions, into short experimental films that are also viewed at this site.

WHY I BLOG
because the blog is a discipline of art, with roots in theatre and the more contemporary performance art as well as of course moveable type; with the bells and whistles provided by the world wide web, html, and audio/video technology more available and malleable than ever before;

because as a professional composer, the blog provides a creative release and outlet based upon improvisation with the elements of word + tone + image;

because the blog is primarily a visual medium that transcends and includes the sequential explication of the phonetic alphabet, and its attendant worldview based upon linear order and mono-perspectivity, and provides an artistic portal into a total experience suggested by the immediacy of electricity that is supported by collaboration, planet-centric compassion, a seasoned point of view, restraint, artful amplification of multiple perspectives and personae, contemplation, and context-based narrative;

because the blog allows for intuitive polysemy of a depth and breadth never before witnessed;

because the blog can entertain, educate, and enlighten, to satisfy and heal audiences, other artists, as well as the author artist;

because, most of all, the blog supports the emergence of informed, transdisciplinary intuition in both individuals and communities, intuition which if recognized and nurtured, can undergird a stable worldview yet to emerge consciously in any large manner save for the mysterious and semi-conscious glimpses touched on by the most curious and talented of our blog-artists;

& because, straight up and down, the blog is fun.
